About

This organization began because of a Tanzanian boy named John Medo born in 1993. He comes from one of the poorest families in his community in northern Tanzania—his family of 7 lives off $45 a month.

In 2007, John passed the exam qualifying him for secondary school, but was unable to afford the required school fees of $150/year. After years of work, his education and journey to a better life had been cut short.

John Medo is The School Fund’s first funded student.

The School Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing opportunity for poor students around the world through educational scholarships. We believe that an education is the most effective way for individuals to improve their own lives.

Furthermore, we strive to be a leader in funding transparency. We utilize the power of the internet to provide an innovative person-to-person interaction, where funders and students can communicate and develop relationships with one another.
